Shelter

When late afternoon storms come my way,
In you I find a place to stay,
Safe and secret where secrets are told,
With you, a friendship true, a miracle to behold.

You welcome me when I take my place,
And you offer a smile, kindness and grace.
When storms outside wreak havoc untold,
I am calmed by the moment we behold.

Ah, how sweet the time today
When inside, we keep the storm at bay
After a calling takes me in from the cold
To a friendship as it grows.

Its warmth compels me to stay
When late afternoon storms come my way.
