Snow Globe

Something pure

About the spherical shape

Glass cold and strong

Heavy in the hand

A whole world held within—

Tarnished only by smudged

Finger prints on the convex surface

Inside, the snow swirls

Or sits complacent on the bottom

Waiting to be brought to life

As the miniature figures

Snug in striped mufflers and ice skates

Stand still

Frozen in animated poses

Unlocking childhood anticipation

In the perfection of the moment

Nowhere so clear

As in the scene depicted within
